No stock picks today. Funny thing – we are getting a briefing from our Healthcare provider at work today (Cigna), and almost everything they presented had an *asterisk next to it – pending changes to the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).
So, are the Republicans finally going to be able to repeal and replace Obamacare? Looks uncertain:
- Bloomberg – Republicans Try Last-Minute Fix to Prevent Health Bill Collapse
- Business Insider – Republicans are throwing ‘every sink in every kitchen they can find’ to save their plan to repeal and replace Obamacare
- The Hill – Undecided GOP rep: Healthcare bill still a few votes short
The proposed changes don’t sound great either. Trumpcare in its current format would allow insurers to charge higher premiums for people with pre-existing conditions who have had a gap in coverage of at least 63 days in the prior year. It could also let insurers charge older customers more than the original bill allowed — at least five times more than younger ones, beginning in 2018.
This does not seem like progress to me.
