No stock picks today – I am getting a few equities in my 5 Star Screen that I will cover on Friday.
Apparently, it is International Women’s Day – and the same organizers of the Women’s March against Donald Trump after his Inauguration are helping call for a general strike – “A Day Without a Woman”:
- Bloomberg – On a Day Without Women, Will Women Revive the General Strike in …
- Vox – The “Day Without a Woman” strike, explained
- CNN – ‘Day Without a Woman’ leaves parents scrambling for childcare
- Politico – How ‘A Day Without a Woman’ Could Backfire
- ZeroHedge – America’s Women Go On Strike, Pledge To “Avoid Spending Money” (Men Celebrate)
Not sure they did a good job getting the word out – first I am hearing about this?
Women’s March organizers released some basic guidelines last week for “anyone, anywhere” who wants to participate in A Day Without a Woman:
- Women take the day off, from paid and unpaid labor
- Avoid shopping for one day (with exceptions for small, women- and minority-owned businesses)
- Wear RED in solidarity with A Day Without A Woman
Not sure what this accomplishes? I am very supportive of Women, both in the workplace and at home (shout out to my wife and daughter) – but the guidelines seem to convey an Us against Them vibe.
Whatever happened to Bring your Daughter to work day? I loved that, and it seemed to be a more positive message.
Extra – I don’t think I am alone, most people seem ambivalent:
