No stock picks – nothing worth buying.
“The market, like the Lord, helps those who help themselves. But, unlike the Lord, the market does not forgive those who know not what they do. For the investor, a too high purchase price for the stock of an excellent company can undo the effects of a subsequent decade of favorable business developments.” –Warren Buffett, from his 1982 chairman’s letter
As readers of my blog know – when the Markets are hitting new highs, this is not a sign of safety; it is a sign of increased danger. You need to ask – is the market going up because of fundamentals on high volume? Or something else entirely:
And if the Markets recent gains are not backed by fundamentals – how long can they last? For those that like to sleep at night – I want to recommend a book that I reviewed a while back – The Aspirational Investor by Ashvin B. Chhabra:

In his book, Ashvin asks the reader to imagine losing 100% of the money in your Aspirational (Speculative) Bucket, and 50% of your Important (Market) Bucket – and still be able to sleep at night. I think this is a good exercise to go thru right now.
