I have been frustrated – not being able to make any stock picks of late. Here are today’s results from the standard stock screens that I designed to support my investment process:
- Stocks to Own Stock Screen: zero results
- 52 Week Low Stock Screen: zero results
- Dividend Millionaire Stock Screen: zero results
All of these screens are detailed on my Preferred Options Strategies Page.
If you look at where valuations are right now – this should not come as a surprise – but it does make for some very boring blog posts.
I have decided to take a page from Warren Buffet -and look for great companies that are trading at a fair price. I can improve upon that price by selling put options – just need a decent Margin of Safety.
Even thought I would not be buying anything just yet, here are the three stocks that pass my resurrected “Warren Buffett” screen:
Name | Ticker | Price | Fair Value | Margin of Safety | Yield % |
Gilead Sciences | GILD | $64.38 | $84.00 | $19.62 | 3.0% |
T. Rowe Price | TROW | $69.98 | $88.00 | $18.02 | 3.1% |
VF Corp. | CMP | $54.13 | $64.00 | $9.87 | 2.9% |

Our old friend Gilead Sciences makes the cut – very attractive with a 3% yield.
Results are based on the following screen:
- Fair value uncertainty <= Medium.
- Wide moat.
- Morningstar rating 4 or more stars.
- Financial Health Grade >= B.
- Current P/E <= 20.
- Stewardship Rating = Exemplary
